Case Management
One of the most important, and often overlooked, aspects of a workers’ compensation claim is the area of medical case management. When an injury occurs, the injured worker, along with his family, may be faced with a life altering experience. Lackawanna Insurance Group’s aggressive, yet compassionate, approach to the medical treatment of an injury helps minimize the socio and economic effects caused by a work-related injury.
A key element of Lackawanna Insurance Group’s medical case management is to closely monitor “medical only claims”. Our medical case management gets involved before the treatment becomes excessive or the injured worker incurs lost time from work.
If vocational rehabilitation training is appropriate, we address it as early as possible in the medical plan and work with the insured to transition the employee back to the work environment.
Throughout the entire process we are committed to assuring that the injured worker receives the best medical care possible with the ultimate goal of returning the injured worker to his pre-injury work, economic and social status.
Lackawanna Insurance Group’s medical case managers are committed to:
- Act as a liaison between medical providers, employer, injured worker and claims representative to keep all parties apprised of the injured worker’s status.
- Work with the employer to identify modified duty jobs and expedite the injured worker’s early return to the work environment.
- Help minimize the financial, social and human aspects of the disability.
- Educate employers and employees on prevention and health issues.
- Coordinate and monitor medical management services provided by additional third party networks.
- Accompany an injured worker to a medical visit to facilitate care and closely monitor his medical progress if needed.
